About

VERONIQUA ALEXY

Veroniqua Alexy was born in Germany of Russian parents and immigrated with her family to Australia. Creativity is inherent within her.  Veroniqua’s father was a geologist, artist and photographer.  Being placed in front of a camera as a baby and as such it became a natural part of her life.  Even to this day, Veroniqua is just as comfortable in front of a camera as behind it.

At age five Veroniqua commenced classical ballet under the tutelage of Madame Kira Bouslouff. Her ballet career flourished, dancing and touring with the West Australian Ballet Company throughout Australia and Papua and New Guinea. At the height of her profession a car accident curtailed her ballet career. Veroniqua then went on to be extensively involved in the Performing Arts, including various stage and TV productions.  It is also at that time her love of oil painting started to emerge as well.

Veroniqua’s interest in photography goes way back.  Her father gave Veroniqua her first camera, a sub-miniature ‘Hit’ when she was eight years of age. On her first North West, Western Australian Ballet Tour, her father gave her an ‘Olympus’ semi automatic camera.  To his and her family’s surprise, the images came back well in focus, well adjusted and balanced.  It was evident even then that Veroniqua had a “good eye”.

Her photographic style is unique and has evolved into a completely different art form, incorporating her love of painting and photography, changing the outlook of one’s perception of a photograph.  Her love of colour and light is evident throughout her work.
